The Jones Library is excited to present our 2022 teen summer reading challenge — Read Beyond the Beaten Path!

Readers aged 11 to 17 are encouraged to participate in the teen program. Whether you're reading at home, listening to an audiobook, reading with friends, or reading on vacation, you can track the time you spend reading and earn a prize.

This year our program will be virtual! Here’s how it works:

  1. Visit
  2. Register! Beanstack will assign a Challenge based on age.
  3. Read! Anything counts -- books, audiobooks, manga, and more!
  4. Log the minutes you read! This can be done daily or periodically.
  5. Earn Badges! Have fun! Win prizes!
This year’s completion goal is reading a total of 30 hours between Saturday, June 18th and Saturday, July 30th. Teens who read and log at least 30 hours before July 30th will be automatically entered into the Grand Prize drawing.

There will also be weekly participation prize drawings! All teens who participate in the Challenge and earn any badges will be automatically entered. The more badges you've earned, the better your chance of winning!

Badges can be earned by logging reading time, reviewing books, and completing certain activities.

Reading badges are awarded for reading 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 hours. At 30 hours you will also receive a Completion badge. But you can keep reading and earn bonus reading badges for 40, 50, and 100 hours!

Review badges are awarded for writing 1, 3, and 5 book reviews!

Activity badges are awarded for completing certain actions. Some activity badges may require doing all of the tasks listed while another may only require doing one on the list. Some of the badges you can earn are: Ask a Librarian, Digital Resources Explorer, Social Media Wizard, and more!
