[ARCHIVED] How Hard Can It Be?

How Hard Can It Be

by Allison Pearson

Enjoy this week's special double review!

Reviewed by Linda:

Sisters, if you are in the "Sandwich Generation" and need a hearty laugh, check out this hilarious and very smart novel about a London woman with two beloved children who have become teenage monsters, three elderly family members in need of assistance, a husband has quit his job to "find himself" by bicycling, and a new job in an office run by clueless young men.

Reviewed by Janet:

With her 50th birthday staring her in the face and her husband retraining for a new career, it’s a tough time for Kate to re-enter the work force. Juggling the challenges of teenage kids, aging parents, and a distracted husband, she lands a job at a financial fund (where they think she’s only 42). Kate manages to soldier on - with help from her mental assistant, Roy - until a blast from the past makes her wonder if it really has to be this hard.
