Human Rights Heroes Awards

Amherst Human Rights Commission announces Recipients of 13th Annual Human Rights Heroes Awards

Amherst, MA – The Amherst Human Rights Commission is delighted to announce the recipients of the 2017 Human Rights Heroes awards. For the 13th straight year, the Commission asked community members to nominate Amherst-area youth who have demonstrated an ability to love and care for one another through acts of kindness, unselfishness, social courage and/or community service within their families, schools or community.

The special recognition award honors Amnesty International Group 128 (Amherst chapter), the Jones Library, Amherst Regional Middle School faculty and administration, and UMass teaching interns — all of whom have worked with ARMS classes since 2014 to create an annual Human Rights Day Exhibit.
