It's 1945, and Maddie has come to the Scottish Highlands from America with her husband and his friend, who are determined to prove the existence of the Loch Ness Monster. Far from upper crust Philadelphia, Maddie must confront the truth about herself, her husband, and her marriage. Wonderfully set in this time and place, and beautifully described, the author creates a compelling story about self-discovery, friendship, and the effects of war. Marvelous.
