In this eloquent historical novel, Emily is viewed through the eyes of the household's 18-year-old Irish maid. Ada Concannon, homesick for Ireland and struggling to please Emily's critical mother, finds support and friendship in the reclusive poet, support that she desperately needs when a traumatic event occurs in her life.
