I wasn't sure I would enjoy a novel about three genius college students who go on to create a phenomenal computer game that makes them celebrities. But I had enjoyed the author's previous novel, The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry, and the new book had glowing reviews. I can now report that the author's characters are so interesting and likable that I was quickly hooked. True, most of the gaming references went over my head, but I did gain an understanding of what draws people to gaming and what makes a new game a hit. And, yes, the sexism that exists that in that industry. Ultimately the book is about friendship, love, jealousy, and tragedy, and the characters will stay with me for a long time.
