When Nellie Coker is released from prison, her family is in the throng waiting outside. Also at hand is Detective Chief Inspector Frobisher, on loan from Scotland Yard to ferret out corruption at Bow Street Police Station. It is 1926, London’s nightclubs are thriving, and Nellie owns a number of them. Disparate story lines with their well-drawn characters begin to overlap and then intertwine in this romp through both the glittering and the dark sides of this world.
