After spending time in prison, which she survived by reading all the books she could get her hands on, Tookie finds work at an independent bookstore in Minneapolis. She loves finding the perfect book for their regulars - until the store becomes haunted after the death of their most annoying customer. In the year of the haunting (November 2019 through November 2020), Tookie's world turns upside down with the effects of COVID, the death of George Floyd, pandemic isolation, and evolving relationships. Readers will be drawn in as the characters are forced to navigate a year like no other.
