by Amber McBride
This debut YA novel in verse by Amber McBride was just a finalist for the 2021 National Book Award for Young People's Literature, as well as the Morris Award for new authors. Moth is a teenaged girl, broken and grieving the deaths of her family members in a horrible car accident. She meets Sani, a boy struggling with mental health and making sense of his own roots. Their sweet romance is a beautiful and haunting journey, a longing for identity and connection. The 3-hour audiobook was a wonderful way to experience this lyrical piece. As soon as I finished the short work I was ready to start reading again.
