When his childhood friend is killed in a London dockside accident in 1970, Abel Paisley decides to assume Solomon’s identity, and permanently abandon his wife and family back in Jamaica. As Solomon, he begins a new life and eventually moves to New York City. Fast forward to 2005, when a dying Solomon decides to confess to his daughters from each of his families. Different threads of this story lead forward and backward in time to reveal a complicated and interwoven story of family, history, and the consequences of choices made.
