From the author of Vox comes another gripping and haunting novel, set in a near future that will seem eerily possible. Imagine that education reform has created a tiered system of schools, where monthly testing determines each student’s Q level – their quotient - and thereby, which tier school they attend. Elena Fairchild teaches at one of the elite elementary schools, yet is helpless when her daughter fails the monthly test and is sent to a federal school in another state. As the government continues to create policies that determine who is worthy of education – and even life – Elena must decide how far she will go to save her daughter. I couldn’t put this one down until the unforgettable end.
