[ARCHIVED] Mrs. Grant and Madame Jule

Mrs Grant and Madame Jule

by Jennifer Chiaverini

Reviewed by Cyndi:

I love Chiaverini’s work, but if I had to choose one, it would be Mrs. Grant and Madame Jule. Based loosely on historical facts, this novel explores slavery and the Civil War from two perspectives: that of slave owner and slave. It also offers a glimpse into the struggles that African Americans faced in rebuilding their lives after the Civil War.
