In an inn by the river, a seeming miracle occurs on the winter solstice, which creates a stir in the lives of a number of local residents. As tributaries flow into a greater river, each of their stories contributes to the overall tale. The story flows along lazily, with something new to see at each at each bend. And just as the spring rains cause swirling high waters, the last section of the book roars along as the characters are caught up and tossed together in this wild ride.
