Virtual Classics Book Club: Crime & Punishment: Session 1 - ONLINE

Wednesday, February 24, 2021

8:00 PM - 9:30 PM

Join us for an exploration of our next classic work!  Over the next two months, we will be discussing Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky.  In February, we will discuss parts I, II, and III.  Our March discussion will cover parts IV, V, VI, and the epilogue.

This virtual book discussion series is co-sponsored by the Jones Library, the New York Public Library, and Restless Books.  The discussion will be led by Ilan Stavans, the Lewis-Sebring Professor of Humanities, Latin American and Latino Culture at Amherst College.

Follow this link to register for the book discussion.  Registration is being handled by the New York Public Library, so don't be surprised!  Information about how to connect with the discussion via Zoom will be sent to you after registration, the day before the event.

Ready to read?  Any edition of Crime and Punishment will do, but some notable translations have been done by Constance Garnett (1914) and Richard Pevear/Larissa Volokhonsky (1993).
  • Download a copy of the book from Overdrive/Libby here.
  • Reserve a physical copy from CW Mars here.
  • A copy of the ebook is also available through Project Gutenberg.
