Louis Greenbaum Papers, 1977-2015

Abstract

The Louis Greenbaum Papers include files from Greenbaum's time on the Amherst Historical Commission and the Laymen’s Academy for Oecumenical Studies. The papers also consist of information regarding lawsuits for construction of One East Pleasant Street and a planned West Hill Subdivision.

Biographical Note

Born February 14, 1930, Louis Greenbaum was a professor of History at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst from 1955-1992. He was a member of the Amherst Historical Commission in the 1970s and again in the 2000s, a longtime Town Meeting member, and a trustee of the Jones Library. He was also a founding member of the Jewish Community of Amherst. Greenbaum died on August 7, 2017.

The Louis Greenbaum Papers contain files from Greenbaum's time on the Amherst Historical Commission and the Laymen’s Academy for Oecumenical Studies. The papers also include information about lawsuits over the construction of One East Pleasant Street and a planned West Hill Subdivision, newsclippings, and subject files.
