Who are the Friends?
The Friends of the Jones Library System is a non-profit organization run by a group of volunteers and supporters. We help raise money for special programs and items that are not covered by the Library's annual budget.
How can you help?
By joining the Friends! Your membership contributions go directly to fund programs and resources for our Town libraries. It's money well spent!

November 2012
Dear Friend,
Did you know that the Friends of the Jones Library System funds almost all of the programming occurring in Amherst's public libraries?
That's right. Friends funding provides virtually all the adult, family, and children's programs you have enjoyed over the years. Furthermore, the Friends are responsible for maintaining the beautiful Kinsey Gardens behind the Jones. The Friends underwrite the museum passes that countless families have used. We also worked together with the Trustees this year to create the Woodbury Room, a welcoming meeting center open to all in the Jones Library.
The Friends play a crucial role in making the libraries the vital and invigorating community centers we have all come to appreciate and need.
These days, we need you to be a Friend more than ever! If you are already a Friend, please renew your membership with as generous a contribution as possible. If you are a new Friend, thank you for joining and welcome to our family! And remember, your tax-deductible gift to the Friends provides the enriching programs that you and your family enjoy at all our libraries.
The Friends and the libraries work hand in hand. The library Trustees have a liaison, Tamson Ely, who meets regularly with the Friends' board. And the Friends have a liaison, Mary Strunk Sitze, who meets regularly with the Trustees. Our relationship is closer than ever and both boards urge contributions to our two groups.
You are all invited to our annual members' meeting on November 5th at 8:00 a.m. in the Amherst Room at the Jones Library. At that meeting, we'll be voting on board memberships for Mike Giles, Ellen Goodwin, Jean Jeffries, Lewis Mainzer, and our newest member, Anita Page. Do join us.
