Film & Discussion Series: We Need to Talk about an Injustice

Thursday, January 19, 2017

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Join us for the next film in this ongoing film and discussion series that may educate you, touch your heart, and inspire you to action to help dismantle racism.

This evening's film is a video talk by Bryan Stevenson, which is both engaging and personal.  Stevenson shares some hard truths about America with candor, insight and persuasiveness.  He is the founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative, fighting poverty and racial discrimination in the criminal justice system, with significant success. He is also the author of Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption.  A discussion will follow.

This is a two-part meeting.  The video and discussion will be followed by gathering in small groups to advance the Coming Together action projects: state legislative initiative, schools initiative, listening project initiative, local business initiative and a new project on providing sanctuary for immigrants locally.

Free & open to the public.

Co-sponsored by the Jones Library and Coming Together.
